Adèle Charvet s’est imposée en quelques années comme l’une des mezzos françaises les plus talentueuses de sa génération.
Elle fait ses débuts à l’opéra en interprétant Mercedes dans Carmen de Bizet au Royal Opera House. Dès lors, sa carrière s’envole : sa voix est qualifiée de veloutée, dense, à la sensibilité vibrante. Elle cultive sa singularité en s’emparant avec gourmandise de tous les répertoires : de la musique ancienne à la musique contemporaine, et en s’adaptant à toutes les formes : récitals chant/piano, musique de chambre, opéra, concerts avec orchestre, avec des ensembles et chefs de renom tels que Marc Minkowski, Raphaël Pichon, François-Xavier Roth, John Eliot Gardiner, Lahav Shani, Vincent Dumestre, Julien Chauvin.
Depuis 2015, elle forme un duo avec le pianiste Florian Caroubi né de leur passion commune pour la musique et la poésie, avec qui elle remporte le prix de Mélodie du Concours International Nadia et Lili Boulanger, puis le grand prix de l’IVC Competition de ’s-Hertogenbosch ainsi que quatre prix spéciaux.
Elle participe à l’Académie du Verbier Festival où elle remporte le Prix Yves Paternot, honorant le musicien le plus prometteur de l’académie.
En 2019, elle enregistre son premier disque Long Time Ago avec la pianiste Susan Manoff, un programme de musique américaine et mélodies anglaises pour Alpha Classics pour qui elle enregistre en exclusivité. Depuis, son éclectisme se traduit dans ses projets discographiques par la richesse de son répertoire, explorant toutes les formes et les époques, de la musique de chambre à l’opéra. Son dernier disque Teatro Sant’Angelo autour du Théâtre vénitien dont Vivaldi fut l’impresario, enregistré avec Le Consort, est Diamant d’Opéra Magazine, TTTT Télérama, ***** BBC Music Magazine.
Récemment on a pu l’entendre dans Les Troyens sous la direction de Sinis Sousa à Berlin, aux BBC Proms et à Versailles, Wozzeck au Verbier Festival dirigé par Lahav Shani, Roméo et Juliette à l’Opéra Comique, Le Barbier de Séville au Capitole de Toulouse, Pelléas et Mélisande à l’Opéra de Rouen. Ses projets à venir incluent Carmen (rôle-titre) à l’Opéra de Versailles, Les Noces de Figaro (Cherubin) au Festival de Glyndebourne et au concert Werther (Charlotte) avec l’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, et Didon et Enée (rôle-titre) avec Le Poème Harmonique.
With a voice praised as "velvety", "rich", and "vibrantly sensitive”, Adèle Charvet has swiftly risen to become one of the most exciting French mezzos of her generation.
Highlights of the 2026/27 season include her role debuts as Ruggiero Alcina at the Opéra de Lille, Poppea L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Opéra National du Capitole de Toulouse, and Maddalena in Rigoletto in her house debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza, Seville.
Charvet also makes her house debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro. On the concert platform, Charvet will sing her first Nerone Agrippina in a major European tour with Les Accents, sing Berio’s Folk Songs with the SWR Symphonieorchester, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Brahms’s Alto Rhapsody and Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang with the Orquesta de Córdoba, New Years Concerts with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, a Christmas Concert with the Kammerakademie Potsdam, and concerts with Le Poème Harmonique at Théâtre des Champs Élysées and Gdansk.
Charvet will also bring her “Belle Époque” recital programme with pianist Florian Caroubi to the Concertgebouw, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Musée d’Orsay, and the Athénée Louis-Jouvet.
In the last two seasons, Charvet returned to the Opéra Comique for Charlotte in Werther in a new production directed by Ted Huffman and conducted by Raphaël Pichon, and reprised the role for the Salzburg Festival conducted by Alain Altinoglu; made her debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro; made her role debut as the title role in Ariodante for the Opéra national du Rhin, Strasbourg; her role debut in the title role in Carmen in a new production at the Opéra royal de Versailles and her role debut as Charlotte in Werther with the Geneva Chamber Orchestra conducted by Marc Leroy-Calatayud; returned to the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse for the title role in Carmen; toured the title role in Dido and Aeneas with Le Poème Harmonique and Berenice in Farnace with I Gemelli to Madrid, Paris, Geneva and Oviedo; performed a Joséphine Baker programme with the Orchestre de Picardie at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, returning later in the season to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as Vendredi in a new Laurent Pelly production of Offenbach’s Robinson Crusoé; gave a celebratory concert with Julien Chauvin’s Le Concert de La Loge at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées; performed Carmen and Djamileh excerpts with Minkowski and Les Musiciens du Louvre; Dido in Dido and Aeneas with Le Poème Harmonique at Bozar; Chausson’s Poème de l’amour et de la mer with the Orquesta del Principado de Asturias; Bach’s Johannes Passion with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria; and Bach’s Easter Oratorio with the Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Bernard Labadie.
Other highlights include the role of Giulietta in Zingarelli Giulietta e Romeo at the Opéra royal de Versailles conducted by Stefan Plewniak; Ascagne Les Troyens on tour with the Monteverdi Choir and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, with performances at the Berlioz Festival, Salzburg Festival, Versailles, Berliner Festspiele and the BBC Proms; a staged concert performance of Wozzeck at the Verbier Festival conducted by Lahav Shani; Helen in Foccroulle Le Journal d’Hélène Berr at the Opéra National du Rhin, Strasbourg; title role La Cenerentola for the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse; Honnegger Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher with the Berliner Philharmoniker cond. Alan Gilbert, as well as numerous international chamber projects and recitals. She has also appeared as Stephano Roméo et Juliette for the Opéra Comique, Rosina Il Barbiere di Siviglia for the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse and Mélisande Pélleas et Mélisande for the Opéra de Rouen.
She made her operatic stage debut and as Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, followed by the Polovtsian maiden in Prince Igor for Dutch National Opera. There followed a series of house debuts at the Verbier Festival, the Royal Opera, Covent Garden as Mercédès Carmen, the Opéra national de Bordeaux as Rosina Il barbiere di Siviglia and the Opéra Comique Javotte in Olivier Py’s production of Manon conducted by Marc Minkowski. Charvet’s artistry has captivated audiences across the world, with versatility spanning early to contemporary repertoire, encompassing vocal recitals with piano, chamber music, opera and orchestral concerts with renowned ensembles and conductors including Marc Minkowski. Raphaël Pichon, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Lahav Shani, Vincent Dumestre and Julien Chauvin.
Charvet recorded her debut album, Long Time Ago, featuring American and English songs with pianist Susan Manoff, for Alpha Classics in 2019. She is now an exclusive recording artist, with her eclectic discography exploring a rich repertoire spanning all forms and periods, from chamber music to opera. In her second solo album, Teatro Sant’Angelo, she presents world premiere recordings of arias by Vivaldi, Chelleri and Ristori, recorded with the French ensemble Le Consort. This album was awarded the Diamant d’Opéra Magazine Award, TTTT Télérama, and 5 stars from BBC Music Magazine. In August 2025, Charvet released a third album, Belle Époque, with a programme of songs by French composers with pianist Florian Caroubi.
Charvet studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Her accolades include the ‘Yves Paternot’ prize for the most outstanding musician of the Verbier Academy, the Melodie prize at the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Competition (alongside duo partner Florian Caroubi), and the Grand Prize and four special prizes at the IVC Competition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
